Job description

Harden is currently looking for a Construction Director. The candidate will join a young and dynamic environment.

Head office: Vaudreuil and construction sites

Position: Permanent

Duties and responsibilities

  • Prepare budgets and schedules for current and/or future projects.
  • Manage and analyze the process of preparing cost estimates for projects under development in connection with the awarding of contracts.
  • Manage the execution of construction projects with subcontractors and our superintendents.
  • Review all major sub-contractors and material bids.
  • Coordinate with the developer, architect and other professionals I the design and planning of the project.
  • Work with all departments on all space planning aspects for estimating the lessor’s and lessee’s work included in the leases.
  • Review and approve all construction plans.
  • Update the construction progress report daily.
  • Review analyses of activities, costs, operations and forecasting data to determine progress towards goals and objectives.
  • Motivate and train project managers and construction workers.
  • Ensure that foremen apply the CNESST program and keep it up to date.
  • Develop relationships with consultants, contractors, suppliers, and evaluate their respective performance to ensure effective partnership relationships.
  • Inspect all construction sites to monitor quality throughout the construction process by walking the sites, instructing staff, meeting and instructing sub-contractors.
  • Ensure that all municipal and governmental codes and laws are applied on all construction sites.
  • Review all work in progress to ensure compliance with plans and specifications, building codes and company standards, as well as the contractual agreement with the tenant.
  • Supervise and train foremen to ensure smooth running of project(s).
  • Perform all other related tasks.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar position (Experience in building both industrial and commercial);
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in management;
  • Good communication and negotiation skills, autonomy, initiative, and a sense of organization;
  • Good knowledge and skills in construction project management;
  • Ability to manage several files simultaneously and good tolerance for work under pressure;
  • Good knowledge of the Office suite, MS Project and Yardi (an asset) and easy with new technologies;
  • Master the French and English language, spoken and written.

Following an analysis, we have determined that the tasks associated with this role require knowledge of English in addition to French (both spoken and written). However, Groupe Harden minimizes the number of positions for which knowledge of a language other than French is required and only demands proficiency in English when it is necessary for the execution of an employee's tasks.
