Re-opening of retail stores

2020-05-25

Re-opening of retail stores that have a direct exterior access located in the Greater Montreal Area

At Harden, our first priority is the health and safety of our guests, tenants and their employees, and our employees across our portfolio.

As provincial governments across the country slowly reopen their local economies, we are not underestimating the importance of well thought-out plans to ensure a safe  and comfortable environment; while ensuring our community is able to access the goods and services they require.

Stores permitted to re-open

In the province of Quebec, more specifically the Greater Montréal Area (CMM), the following businesses are allowed to re-open as of May 25th, 2020:

–                  Essential services;

–                  Retail stores with direct exterior access to customers;

–                  Restaurants (delivery or take-out only).

Please note that the province of Ontario has allowed the above-mentioned retail businesses to re-open as of May 19th, 2020. We invite you to consult the Quebec and Ontario government websites (where applicable) for further details regarding the type of retail businesses allowed to re-open.

Operating hours

Our shopping centers have remained open as per their regular hours while respecting governmental guidelines, however in light of the current situation some stores will have different operating hours as the reopening is gradual and have different operational needs.  We encourage guests to contact retailers directly for up-to-date information on hours of operation in order to plan an enjoyable visit to one of our properties.

Similar to the precautions we put in place prior to closure, we are taking appropriate steps to protect and support our guests, tenants and employees as we reopen. We have implemented many enhanced safety protocols that follow the guidance of our provincial and municipal health authorities in order to provide a safe environment for all. This is still a highly dynamic situation and we continue to monitor direction from government and public health authorities, and we will implement appropriate actions as they become available.

Principal measures in place to provide a safe environment for all:

  • Safety protocols in all our properties include amongst others:
    • precautionary signage reminders of physical distancing, washing of hands, and protective face coverings;
    • directional arrows on the side-walks to direct pedestrian traffic flow;
    • cleaning of all frequent touch points including door handles, common area surfaces, washroom fixtures, etc.;
    • addition of several sanitizing stations ;
    • closure of our outdoor parks until further notice;
    • restrictions on outdoor benches;
    • protective wear for our onsite employees.

  • Ongoing communication with onsite employees and tenants advising them of our protocols, policies and recommended practices to keep them safe and mitigate transmission.

  • Increased safety measures in all our construction sites that include physical distancing, sanitising stations and protective wear, amongst other initiatives.

  • Work from home protocols where appropriate for our employees, and a restriction on all business travel and in-person meetings for the foreseeable future.

We would like to thank you for your support, and cooperation. We hope you have an enjoyable shopping experience with us!

Stay safe, stay healthy.

Everyting will be all right.
